BULAWAYO - Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Company (ZITF) has announced a new board which quickly vowed to restore the glory of the annual business exhibition which has for the past decade failed to woo foreign exhibitors. Bekithemba Nkomo, a Bulawayo businessman and Managing Director of Lloyd Corporate Capital, was on Friday unveiled as the new chairman taking over from Nhlanhla Masuku. The new board held its first meeting on Friday in Bulawayo. Other members include Ernest Nyathi (Bulawayo City Council, Anthony Roland, Nyasha Zhou (PG managing director), Louice Magadu (Ministry of Industry and Commerce) and Isaac Dube. Nkomo said the new board's priority was to re-brand the exhibition centre. "Our major task is to re-brand ZITF Company as we feel that it should return to what it was 10 years ago. Also the exhibition centre is under utilised so we will work out strategies of putting it to good use as we feel we have the best facilities in the region," said Nkomo who also sits on the CABS, COTTCO and is also the Deputy Chairman of African Sun. "The exhibition centre is rarely used in between the annual trade fair, Mine Entra and Scholastica. It can generate huge revenue for the company by leasing out part of the exhibition halls for business," Nkomo said, noting that this year's trade fair scheduled for April 20-24 under the theme "Unlocking Our investment potential" would be very different from last year. The Zimbabwean Tags: exhibition nkomo bulawayo board company zitf fair trade centre business year brand annual feel managing friday chairman director region cabs
